BELLEVUE, WA (September 12, 2007) – Guidant Financial Group’s President and CEO David Nilssen is being honored by the Puget Sound Business Journal’s “40 under 40,” an awards program that spotlights the next generation of business leaders. Nilssen was chosen as one of 40 honorees for his demonstration of dynamic leadership and social responsibility. He will be recognized at an awards ceremony on September 20 at the Seattle Repertory Theatre.
Nilssen is featured along with other honorees in a special September 14 glossy publication of the Puget Sound Business Journal. His achievements, business goals and personal philosophy are spotlighted in the publication with an individual story and full-color photograph.
Nilssen’s recent achievements include being selected the co-recipient of both the National and Washington State Entrepreneurs of the Year awards by the Small Business Administration. Under his leadership, Guidant has been named the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Blue Ribbon Small Business and the Northwest Regional Small Business of the Year; the Eastside Chamber of Commerce Best Small Business; and one of Washington CEO Magazine’s 100 Best Companies to Work For, placing among the top 15 in the small-business category.
As Guidant’s president and CEO, Nilssen has secured Guidant Financial Group’s place as the nation’s leading provider of self-directed IRA services. Additionally, he has been instrumental in setting higher standards for the retirement account industry, and he has pioneered the concept of “one-stop-shopping” for business-funding solutions.
A strong believer in supporting the greater community, he serves as chair of Guidant’s Social Commitment Committee, which enables Guidant staff to choose charitable projects in which to donate company funds. Guidant has donated both cash and countless hours of time to local humanitarian causes such as Rebuilding Together, SCORE, Race for the Cure, YWCA, Seattle Marathon, Sibling House and Northwest Harvest.
“I am delighted to be included among the Journal’s ’40 Under 40,’” says Nilssen. "I’m familiar with many of the other honorees, and it truly is an honor to be included among them. I’m grateful to the Puget Sound Business Journal for selecting me and especially grateful to our staff for carrying out the company’s vision and supporting me throughout the years. I wish each of Guidant’s employees could be featured as well!”
