Guidant added payroll services in order to offer a broader business-support package. The Bellevue, Wash., firm already provides recordkeeping services for its clients’ company-sponsored 401(k) plans.

Clients who use the payroll services in tandem with their annual recordkeeping for their company 401(k) plan will have the added benefit of being able to streamline their year-end reporting process. At the end of the 401(k) plan year, Guidant will be able to download the necessary information for the year-end census. This alleviates the burden of clients tracking census information throughout the year to submit to Guidant’s recordkeeping team.

Service fees are based upon the number of employees and start at $56/month. At this time, Guidant cannot process payroll in Maine, Ohio or Pennsylvania due to tax issues; however, Guidant hopes to be able to add these states in late 2008.
