A serial entrepreneur, David has successfully launched a number of companies over the last 15 years within financing, digital media, real estate development and business services. He’s also an active angel investor who has helped seed companies in neuropharma, online travel, personal financial management, medical billing, technology and more.
David’s been a featured speaker at over 350 national and international events, covering topics from entrepreneurship to small business financing. In 2007, the Small Business Administration named him the National Young Entrepreneur of the Year, and the Puget Sound Business Journal named him one of the Top 40 Businesspeople Under 40. In both 2008 and 2009, he was a finalist for the coveted Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award.
In 2011, David co-authored a book called Making the Jump into Small Business Ownership and was honored as one of the Top 100 Small Business Influencers. He’s also a past president of the Seattle Entrepreneur Organization, which provides peer-to-peer learning opportunities for business leaders, and a former board advisor for Youth Ventures, a nonprofit helping teams of young people design and launch social-driven businesses. Today, he serves on the Regional Council for the Entrepreneur Organization, as well as on the board of Archbright, formerly Washington Employers, which is focused on helping its members elevate workplace performance through HR and legal support.
In his spare time, David moonlights as a stunt double for “Dennis the Menace.”
Jeremy’s entrepreneurial endeavors have given him diverse business experience launching and growing a number of companies in the real estate, online media, financing and personal service sectors.
Jeremy understands the unique challenges of Guidant’s core small business customers well. Along with his start-up experience, he is a three-time franchisee. Jeremy’s been honored as one of the Puget Sound Business Journal’s 40 under 40 and as the national winner of the Young Entrepreneur of the Year award given by the Small Business Administration (SBA).
He’s a former board member of the Seattle Chapter of The Entrepreneurs’ Organization and Together for Tranfsormation.
In his spare time, he paints, hangs out with his kids, travels and occasionally rocks the karaoke mic with hits from Michael Jackson and Kool and the Gang.
After years of active duty in the U.S. Army, Joe graduated from the University of Washington School of Law with a Juris Doctor degree.
Joe practiced complex litigation with one of the state’s largest law firms for 18 years. Then, he focused his practice on corporate, federal tax and ERISA pension law. He received his LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Washington School of Law’s Graduate Program in Taxation.
He has served as Guidant’s Senior Counsel almost since the company’s inception and acts as Guidant’s Chief Compliance Officer for federal tax and ERISA reviews. He is known around the office as an accomplished organic farmer, peddling his eggs to the staff on a regular basis.
Katie joined Guidant in 2012 and brings more than 17 years of sales experience to the team.
She’s responsible for overseeing the company’s sales efforts, providing executive leadership and developing strategies to grow market share. Her past work in sales includes consulting for companies such as Bowie Salon, Simply Measured and Mature Market Sales Source.
Katie was also instrumental in the growth of A Place for Mom, which helps families find senior housing and care. She has mad nunchuku skills, bow hunting skills and computer hacking skills.
Michelle leads marketing and communications at Guidant, bringing a passion for customer service, supporting entrepreneurs and building a fun company culture to the team. With more than 15 years of experience in developing integrated campaigns, she drives the strategic direction for the brand, as well as oversees earned and social media, email and advertising.
Michelle developed her keen marketing insights working for top retail and consumer technology companies, including Tommy Bahama, Expedia and Nordstrom. Most recently, she helped double sales and grow the marketing team at LiquidPlanner, a Seattle software start-up. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in English and communications from Western Washington University.
As Executive Vice President, Devin is responsible for improving internal processes at Guidant and strategically driving the company forward. Prior to joining the team, he was chief strategy officer at TaxACT and before that, CEO and co-founder of Balance Financial, a start-up that provides cloud-based solutions for CPAs, financial advisers and private banks. Devin has also been a start-up mentor for the Iowa Startup Accelerator and with the University of Washington’s Buerk Center for Entrepreneurship.
Experienced in product development, strategic planning and partnerships, mergers and acquisitions, and innovation projects, Devin brings deep knowledge and experience to the Guidant team. He has successfully launched a number of products and holds patents for various technologies and systems he co-designed. Devin holds a bachelor’s degree from Western Washington University.
